If you've been reading along you know that yesterday we went to pick up the new furbaby...a 10 week old ragdoll kitten from a cattery, RagAngels, down in Wells, Maine. You also know, my few lovely loyals, that RagAngels has lots of fun things aside from ragdoll kittens. Sandy, the lovely lady who breeds the ragdolls also breeds and shows a prize winning breed of miniature horses as well as several cage-free organic laying hens.
As with the last time we were there when we initially picked out Geronimo, the Little Imp was gifted with another ride on Rangi. Yep, I think it's safe to say we're going to eventually have to look into the zoning ordinances around here and see if ONE miniature horse is OK.
Such a softy and a huge flirt to boot! Who could resist this face?
I would raise them, if it weren't for the fact that they kinda smell - the chickens, not the eggs. And the whole pecking-my-eyes-out thing, that might present a little problem as I'm rather attached to my eyes. And the fact that I am scared shitless of birds, whether they provide me with nourishment or not. So um yeah, I'd totally be into raising some laying hens if it weren't for all that.
What's that you say? Enough with musings of my bird paranoia? You want to see some pictures of Geronimo's homecoming? You want to see some cute, cuddly, feline photos?
Are you sure you don't want to see just one more horse picture?
She's really pretty...
I can't show you pictures of Geronimo without first introducting you to Chester, his daddy. Chester is gorgeous and unfortunately my photos do not do him justice. He sits in the lap of luxury in a floor to ceiling enclosure. The enclosure is nessecary because one of the other female breeding cats is in season right now. So I only got some photos through the mesh. But he's a looker and oh boy is a he a HUGE flirt! Sandy tells me that she sees a lot of his daddy in Geronimo!
We got home with the little one and kept him in his travel crate and let Griffy and Gracie sniff around. Gracie was all growls and hisses and wanted NOTHING to do with the little guy...NOTHING! She made that point perfectly clear. Griffy on the other hand was very curious and very polite.
Geronimo absolutely adores Griffy and so far, with only the rarest of warning swipes, Griffy is tolerating Geronimo very well.
Sometimes a big brother's tail makes the best toy!
Griffy is even willing to share his wave thingy (I don't know what the hell that thing is called.), with the newbie!
It looks like she might just have another bath time buddy...Jr.
It's amazing what a tiny, blue-eyed ball of adorableness can do. He can dissolve stress, melt away anxiety and provide endless hours of laughter, smiles and companionship. The hubby, the Little Imp and I sat in a circle on the floor and talked about our day, about our adventures all whilst watching the kitten chase various toys around the family room. Surrounded by our older cats who looked on from a safe distance and with Casey nearby in another room, we giggled and squealed as Geronimo attacked our toes and made the incredible leap, several times, from the cat climber to one of the ottomans a few feet away.
We didn't once speak of worries, fears or concerns, nor did we allow any other negativity to tarnish the shine on our evening..our time together as a family. I think it's a pretty safe bet that a lot more of our evenings and weekends will be spent in the cocoon of our family...human and animal alike.
